One of the most engrossing films I’ve seen in many years. ”Gravity” is the story of a space shuttle mission that goes terribly wrong after satellite debris crashes into the orbiter while three astronauts are on a space walk.
Sandra Bullock is well on her way to another Oscar nomination as Doctor Ryan Stone, a scientist on her first space mission. Her performance is one of the best I’ve ever seen from her. She and veteran astronaut Matt Kowalski (played by George Clooney) are stranded in space with no way to communicate with Earth. Clooney is extremely cool-headed in a crisis and plans of both making it back safely.
Everything about the film is Oscar-worthy: The direction by Alfonso Cuaron, the cinematography, the 3D effects, the musical score and the visual effects. Mark my words, there will be multiple Oscar nominations. And, based on what I’ve seen so far in 2013, a few Oscar wins as well.
“Gravity” will be on my top ten list. It has suspense and performances that choked me up. A great film, perhaps the best film about space, ever. An A+ for “Gravity.”
