Whophiles celebrate this week’s release of “Doctor Who: The Complete Seventh Series” that not only contains all 13 episodes of Season 7, but juicy extras as well.  Let’s face it, extras ARE important.  Here are some of the highlights of this first-rate release by BBC Home Entertainment.  I’ve also got some other Blu-ray and DVD releases from this week as well.

“Doctor Who: The Complete Seventh Series”

Included are the 2011 and 2012 Christmas specials, behind-the-scenes featurettes for each episode plus “The Snowmen.”  “The Nerdist” interviews Matt Smith and Jenna-Louse Coleman, audio commentaries for four episodes including “The Snowmen,” prequels and even more featurettes.  Maybe even featurettes on the featurettes.  Nah, just kidding.  Grade: A-

“2 Broke Girls: The Complete Second Season”

They have to be doing something right.  CBS renewed the show for a third season.  Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs star in 24 half-hour episodes.  Max and Caroline are still waiting tables in Brooklyn, but have hopes for their new cupcake business.  Wacky neighbors and romantic entanglements spice things up.  Extras are limited.  They include deleted scenes and a gag reel.

“Unfinished Song”

Music and old farts.  “Unfinished Song” is definitely for the older folks.  Vanessa Redgrave and Terence Stamp star in this comedy-drama about a couple who connect on a new level thanks to music.

“Fill the Void”

Rama Burshtein writes and directs this story of a teenager about to marry until a family tragedy threatens to make her life even more indecisive.  This drama from Israel is in Hebrew with English subtitles.

Other titles coming out September 24, 2013, will get individual reviews.
