DVD Review: Mold!

Mold! 2

How do you fight the War on Drugs?  The year is 1984 and the government is developing a fast-growing mold that could quickly wipe out a coca field in just days or even faster.  But, the Reagan administration gets more than it bargained for when the slimy green stuff gets a taste for human flesh.

That’s the premise of this oozy bit of sci-fi horror fun done on an extremely low-budget.  “Mold!” is quite entertaining for the most part.  It’s a throwback to the slimy radioactive/toxic chemical B-movies of that era.  It’s obvious the filmmakers don’t take themselves seriously.  The actors seem to be having quite a fun time.  And, that combination translates to fun for the audience as well.

Don’t go in with high expectations.  This film is cheesy and can’t always deliver.  But, I was happy enough to sit through this nonsense.  You might like it as well.  Grade: C+
