Zombie-a-go-go. Or, here we go again. Milla Jovovich is back as Alice in “Resident Evil: Retribution” wasting those nasty undead folks faster than you can say apocalypse.
This fifth film in the sci-fi franchise has some of the evildoers from the Umbrella Corporation realizing that maybe the zombie virus accidentally released on the world is not such a good thing. They now help Alice in her fight against the corporate baddies.
“Retribution” has actually got some very decent action and 3D effects. The story is still razor-thin. But, by the end of it all, I was ready for the next sequel, the presumed finale.
Many of the past characters return thanks to cloning and even Alice gets some mother-daughter vibes when she befriends a deaf child named Becky (Aryana Engineer).
If you truly like this film series based on the video game, then “Retribution” will probably satisfy. Rest of the world probably won’t buy a ticket anyway. Grade: C+
