DVD Review: “Apartment 143” (Emergo)

This English-language film from Spain borrows a lot from “Paranormal Activity” and from other bump-in-the-night movies that went before.

A team of parapsychologists uses the latest technology to investigate a series of unexplained events happening to a family in their new apartment.  Mysterious phone calls, spooky shadows and flying objects.  You’ve seen it before.

The investigators move into the apartment with their scientific equipment, making it a bit cramped for the family.  Remember “Poltergeist?”

It all builds (or tries to build) to a dramatic last act complete with wacky wallwalkers and the usual assortment of horror clichés.

The MPAA rating more than sums up the movie: Rated “R” for language and some terror.  Not enough terror in my book.  Grade: D.
