DVD Review: Intruders

Hey, I’m here to pick up your children.  “Intruders” is the story of a creature called Hollow Face.  He’s kinda like the Boogeyman, lurking in the dark trying to steal the souls of children.  Two children, in particular, living in different countries.

Clive Owen stars as a father out to protect his 13-year-old daughter, but despite the best home security measures, Hollow Face just keeps getting inside the girl’s room.  Carice Van Houten (Melisandre in HBO’s “Game of Thrones”) plays the mother of a boy also beset by this faceless villain.  What is the connection?

The story jumps back and forth between the two countries and quickly becomes tedious and only mildly scary.  The ending might surprise you if you manage to stay awake.  A compelling story with more chills and a clearer plotline could have helped.  Grade: C-
